Robert K. Elder is the President and Publisher of Blockchain News, the award-winning author of eight books and founder of Odd Hours Media. He also serves as a mentor at TechStars, 1871 Chicago and Northwestern University’s The Garage. Elder’s books include Hidden Hemingway, The Film That Changed My Life, Last Words of the Executed and most recently, The Mixtape of My Life. Tim Randak

Treasure/ Financial Advisor

Tim is the President of Arkell Asset Management, LLC, an investment management and financial planning firm. Prior to founding Arkell Asset Management, Tim served as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs in New York City, where his responsibilities were mutual fund and hedge fund risk management. Tim’s experience also includes time with Morgan Stanley and OppenheimerFunds.
Tim received a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound.
Tim is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFAI), and he holds the CFA designation.

Mike Curto

Board Member

Mike comes from a strong military family background, but he found his career path to be in Public Safety. He has worked in the fire and medical service for over 15 years. Mike has also spent over 10 years teaching and coaching in many areas of public safety, including Emergency medical classes. With a lifelong passion for fitness, Mike is a certified personal trainer and works on his Fire Department Health and Welllness Team. Mike is married to Camille and they have a 5 year old son, Vinnie. They spend their free time traveling and taking in sporting events.


Susan Shifman

Board Member

Susan is a Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises®️ (TRE) Certification Trainer, having worked with the founder of TRE over the past 10+ years. She has been Chair of the Board of Directors of the TRE For All, Inc. International non-profit, who’s mission is education, humanitarian efforts, and research. Prior to her work with TRE, Susan spent 32 years at IBM, the last 12 years as an Organization and Leadership Consultant, coaching globally, the top 500 senior executives. Her free time is spent riding her horse “Toby”.

Incorporating the leadership development techniques honed across a 15 year career in the military, Paul is also a leading Certified High Performance Coach™ through the High Performance Institute. Paul has coached thousands of people from many different ethnic backgrounds over the past 20 years.

Cari McLean

Chairwoman of the Board

Cari McLean is the “other half” to Chad McLean, President of Mental Joe. Cari currently works as a Implementation Consultant for a large Human Capital Management Company. She is a wife, a momma to 2 boys (2 under 2), and a huge proponent of TRE. Cari plans on getting TRE certified as well and would like to focus on the families and friends of active soldiers and veterans. Cari is originally from Michigan and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University with a focus on Psychology and Family Studies.

Peter “Kai” Knight

(Army Veteran)

Kai Knight is a litigation associate at Sidley Austin LLP in WASHINGTON DC. Prior to that he clerked at the United States court of appeals for veterans claims. Kai served on active duty from 2002-2009 with multiple combat tours in Iraq. He also worked as a government contractor in Afghanistan in a lethal targeting cell and as an interrogator at GTMO before that. Like all of us, he as a vested interest in ensuring our veterans get the help and care they deserve.

Joey Jones

Joey Jones was the PGA Head Golf Professional at the ASU Karsten Golf Club and is a 19 yr. member of the PGA of America.  Currently Joey is the Head PGA Pro at Gainey Ranch.  Prior to his golf career, Joey served in the United States Air Force from 1983-1997 and is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.  Joey has been married to his beautiful wife Dolyn for 28 yrs and says “it’s the best thing that has ever happened to him”.  In his spare time Joey is a certified Martial Arts Instructor with a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Combat Hapkido.  Joey is passionate about helping his fellow Veterans through whatever challenges they may be having and is proud to be a Board Member of Mental Joe.
